The boy speaketh....

One night Alex woke up for about the 10th time. Joe, upon feeling sorry for me, offered to hold Alex after he had already eaten. Well, this did not comfort Alex. I thought I might check if he was hungry again even though I had just fed him (it has happened in the past). By the time I got into his room, Alex had had it with Daddy. I told Joe I would try feeding him again. Alex heard my voice, turns to me and says "Mama" I heard it... Joe heard it. Now we may have been sleep deprived but we both heard it. He has only said it 1 other time after that, but I will take it. What can I say... he's a genius!

Muskrach

The other day I picked Gaby up from school. It was a sunny day and I guess she was looking at me through the mirror as we turned a corner in the car.

Gaby: "Mommy, you have a muskrach."
Mommy: "A what?"
Gaby: "A muskrach, like grandpa."
Mommy: "First of all it's a mustache and secondly, I don't have one!"

Is nothing sacred?

Rough Life

On Thursday we went to the library. We were there for over 2 hours. Naturally, as we were getting in the car, Alex started fussing... he was hungry and tired and God knows what else. The following conversation takes place:

Gaby: (sigh) It's hard having a little brother.
Mom: Hard for who? You or me?
Gaby: Me, mommy. It's hard for me.
Mom: Oh yeah?
Gaby: Yeah, He cries all the time and I have to listen to it.
Mom: Oh yeah?
Gaby: Yeah, I should have had a baby sister.
Mom: Oh Yeah?
Gaby: Yeah, they don't cry and I could play with her all the time. Alex cries and he cries loud and I can't always play with him.
Mom: Well, you do have a baby sister... she's right there.
Gaby: She's not a baby sister. She's a big kid sister and I don't always want to play with her.
(sigh) Yeah, it's hard having a baby brother!

Poor Gaby!

Hips Don't Lie

Bella has a new favorite CD. It doesn't top the childrens charts, it's actually one of the most downloaded artists. Yep, appropriately enough, it's Shakira. Little Miss Booty-Shaker herself has found her goddess, her mentor and leader. We have listened to all 3 CDs that I own including the double disc Greatest Hits. Her favorite? Laundy Service... in english, not spanish. I wonder if it's too provocative but for now it's just so darn cute!

Just when you think you're out... they pull you back in!

Gaby is on the road to recovery. The fever is gone and she has gone back to school. The cough lingers but it's much better than before.
Now Bella has pneumonia. She has a fever of 101.5 and is irritable, as you might expect. It's actually interesting to see how fast the motrin works to bring down her fever. She does her best to be and act normal but as soon as the motrin wears off.... look out!
As if that were not enough, Alex has an ear infection. He too has a fever and he and I spent 2 nights on the recliner because laying down was too painful for him. He also has a cold. Poor Baby.
The 3 kids are on antibiotics now... you should see our fridge! Hopefully this will be the last of the illnesses for this season. We've paid our dues.

You Remind Me of Someone

Yesterday I was cleaning the table and sweeping the floor. I noticed that there was something sticky on the table so I got the sponge and scrubbed it off. Meanwhile, Bella was having a snack at the island. She then says:
"Mommy, you look like Cinderella"
At least someone notices!

Almost out of the woods

Gaby's fever finally broke. She had a low-grade fever last night and woke up fever free this morning. She is still taking the antibiotics and I will have to do a follow-up appointment to ensure that her lungs have cleared up and to get a pneumonia vaccine. We hope this will be the end of pneumonia for us.
